The Hazards of Slushies

Kim did this on accident while trying to drink her slushie. She was pretty upset! Of course I told her to freeze while I grabbed the camera.
Not to be left out Brett took a big drink of his slushie too.
This is standard for Kylie. She often looks like this after eating or drinking.
Bradley gives me a big smile complete with a Slushie mustache.
And a big grin from Bryce too!

It's raining, It's pouring!

We had a huge thunderstorm roll in this afternoon. It poured rain for about half an hour. The kids had fun playing in the puddles and mud it left behind. Grandma would have loved the storm!!!

School starts in 3 weeks.

We survived another day of summer. Not enough sleep last night made it a longer than normal day. The kids had friends over all day! I've started sending friends home at 6:00 when we have dinner and then I don't let them come back and try to keep my kids at home for the rest of the evening for family time. (Our house is often the "Kool-aid house" - the house on the block where everyone hangs out- although I never serve the neighbor kids kool-aid).
After dinner we drove up to the church and climbed up and over the hill that is behind it. It was a good hike for all of us, especially Brian who had just run 4 laps around the park. Once we got back to the church Brian drove Kylie and Bradley home while Brett, Bryce, Kim and I walked home. It was only 87 out so it was actually cool enough to go outside. It's nice to have a little reprieve from 110 degree weather!
This is one of my favorite quotes:
Part of discipleship should be to become high-yield, low-maintenance members of the Church. These members are not high profile; they won’t be on the six o’clock evening news when they die. But they have done what Heavenly Father has wanted them to do meekly and humbly.

Hanging with the Frames

Our neighbors the Frames came over and watched us light fireworks. Seth, Annie and Zach are good friends. Annie and Zach are often at our house for hours on end and when they are not here Kim and Brad are at their house. After the fireworks we lit the snakes in the road. Those were always one of my favorites as a kid (and an adult too).

Pioneer Day

We went to a huge Stake Pioneer Celebration. They recreated a pioneer town, had a parade and fed everyone. Easily 1000 people! There were lots of games and the kids had a blast. When we got home we lit off fireworks in the street.

Kylie Celebrates the 24th of July

It's hard to tell by the look on her face but Kylie liked Sparklers. She held 3 or 4 of them and kept wanting more. Of course you can tell by the look on her face that the balloon was her favorite!

I married a crazy man!

OK maybe he's not really crazy but I'm too chicken to do this. Near where we went tubing there is an old bridge that crosses the Snake River. Brian and my brothers went bridge jumping. The river is actually quite deep under the bridge so they assure me it is safe. The only thing crazier than this is my brother Tim went back the next week and jumped off the very top of the bridge.

Floating the Snake River July 14, 2007

On our recent trip to our family reunion in Idaho Falls we enjoyed floating down the Snake River. Our kids all unanimously agreed that this was their favorite part. Our last run was the best. We tied 5 inner tubes together and enjoyed our mile long float. Even Kylie loved it. Bryce wore a cast cover that had belonged to Uncle Tim so he and his broken arm could float too. Thanks to Grandpa and Uncle Tim for getting us all set up!

Everybody is doing it!

Now it's my turn to try. I'm new to Blogs but since 2 of my sister in-laws have recently emailed me links to their blogs I thought I'd create one. Now the real question is will I ever post again?
