Happy Thanksgiving!

It was just us this Thanksgiving.  The older 3 kids went with Brian to the Turkey Bowl at church in the morning. Then we went to the movies in the afternoon.  I took the younger kids to see Tangled and Brian took the older boys to see Harry Potter 7.  Then home for Thanksgiving dinner.  A 20 lb. turkey plus 10 lbs of mashed potatoes means we had lots of leftovers.

Thanksgiving 2009

Better late than never...
Here are a few pictures from Thanksgiving.
Bradley's class dressed up like colonial children and had a feast. He was named Seth for the day and had to dress up. He loved it.
Anxiously awaiting the feast.

We had dad join us for Thanksgiving. We all love when grandpa comes to visit. Here we are ready to pray and then dig in!

Thanksgiving 2008

We enjoyed a nice relaxing Thanksgiving. Turkey, mashed potatos, gravy, cream corn, homemade rolls and raspberry pretzel jello with pumpkin pie & ice cream for dessert. We invited Jean-Luc to come over since his family was out of town. He was grateful and said he would have had lime jello and boiled eggs for dinner if we hadn't invited him to join us.

We truly have plenty to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Geocache.

Seeing as I knew I'd be eating too much and needed to exercise I suggested a family hike on Thanksgiving morning. Brett wanted to go geocaching so we found the location of a few geocaches and headed out in the rain.
Things started off nice but after a short time the rain started falling and the location where I thought the geocache should be did not match up with the coordinates we input into the GPS.
Don't be deceived. This smile won't be around for very long. Kylie only lasted a short time before she melted down and wanted to be carried and then wanted to go home!
The geocache said it was on top of a hill between 2 rocks. The location the GPS lead us to was not on top of a hill.
Can you say frustration? A screaming child, wet cold rain and no success at finding the cache.
Maybe we'll have better luck next time. At least we got some exercise.

Thou Shalt Thank The Lord Thy God In All Things

So my cousin (cousin in law?)made this really cute Thanksgiving turkey with her kids for FHE last week listing all the things they were thankful for. I thought it was such a cute idea and wanted to do it too. But that meant I needed to be prepared and go to Lowe's to get paint swatches and that didn't happen. So instead we broke out the butcher paper and markers and made a huge list of everything we are thankful for. We read from President Bednar's most recent talk on expressing heartfelt gratitude while praying. Then wrapped up with brownies & the movie Wall-E.

We definitely have plenty to be thankful for...

Finally found some pictures to post!

It's been a while since I've posted any pictures. The last bunch of pictures we've taken have ended up yellow or blurred. I did find a couple from this month to post so at least there is something!
I've been lost in Stephenie Meyer's books for the last month. I'm just finishing reading them for the 3rd time! I finally downloaded Twilight on audio so I could listen and get something done at the same time. I found some friends who are just as obsessed as I am with the books and have been having a blast as they fuel the obsession. My house and laundry has suffered but at least my waistline hasn't. I've lost 14 lbs in less than 2 months bring me a little over half way to my goal! Thanks Amy & Lisa I'll be forever grateful you're as crazy as I am!

Brett and his friend Josh with our neighbor Mary at the widow/widower dinner put on by the youth at church.
We had a very simple and relaxing Thanksgiving this year. Just the 7 of us. No frills, no fuss not a lot of work. We enjoyed a fun weekend together and kept things simple.
Ready to dig in to our dinner of turkey, gravy, rolls, cream corn & raspberry pretzel jello. It was a really nice day!
Brian started a great new tradition on Thanksgiving morning. He made pancakes for breakfast. He's done it 3 times now so it's his job. The kids & I love it!
