Wash It Wednesday
My expectations aren't too high for today. I'm not feeling well and planning on taking it easy today. So far I've had 1 piece of toast and a glass of water with no desire for anything else to eat. My goal for the day is to get caught up on the laundry which has slowly gotten out of control over the last week. If I can get it all washed & folded and do a load of dishes I'm going to be happy.

Wash It Wednesday
Today is Wash It Wednesday but I need to call it Work It Wednesday or Workout Wednesday or just plain Weird Wednesday or something because most of what I have to do does not involve washing...
- Take Brett to Game Stop
- Return books to the Library
- Workout
- Pay Bills
- Get movies for New Years Eve
- Finish the Laundry
- Wash Sheets
- Returns at Costco

Wash It Wednesday - Laundry
I got through my pile of laundry from yesterday; however it is a good thing that it is Wash It Wednesday today because Kylie spent the night throwing up. I have piles of towels, rags and blankets to wash today. Other than that I'm in survival mode and hope to get a nap in sometime soon.

Wash It Wednesday - Sheets
I hate washing sheets. I guess the washing part isn't so bad but I hate putting them back on the beds. I have a friend who washes her sheets every week. I'm not that good. If I get them all washed at least every couple weeks (or once a month) I'm doing good.

Wash It Wednesday
This morning I tried to volunteer Brian to do my Wash It Wednesday project. "How about you wash the outsides of the windows for me today?" Too bad he was already dressed for work and had an appointment at 9 am. I'm going to leave that job for another day when he has time to do it. Brian is a fabulous window washer. In fact when we were in college he had his own window washing business. I remember helping him clean the windows at the Riviera Apts in Provo.
As for me I'm burned out. I want a day off. I'm tired of cleaning. I'm really grateful today is Wash It Wednesday because I'm going to pick something easy. Thankfully I don't even have a full load of laundry that needs washing. My bathrooms are not yet disgusting. The dishes are done. So I'm opting to wash spots off of the walls for 10 minutes. That's it. After tackling the food storage yesterday an easy, quick task is all I'm up for today.

Wash It Wednesday
Got a lot on my have to do list today so I'm going with an easy Wash It Wednesday task today. I'm going to clean the interior windows today. I've got the kitchen and sliding glass door done already and it should take me less than 10 minutes to wipe down the rest of them.

Life's Messy. Clean It Up!

I was reading online and came across this lovely piece of information:
A dirty carpet is not healthy. Your carpet acts as a filter, filtering out bacteria, fungus, food particles, germs, grease, residue from toxic air pollution, and dustmites that live and breed in your carpet.
Thanks to my Bissell Carpet Cleaner my carpet is now a little cleaner and hopefully has less bacteria, fungus, food particles, germs, grease, toxic residue and dustmites in it! Too bad it won't stay that way for long.
Magic Eraser - Wow It Actually Works!
So I'd heard of Magic Eraser before but had never tried it. After attempting to wash a few artistic murals (or should I say scribbles) off the walls I realized that the crayon wasn't going to come off. So I dropped the kids at school and ran to Walmart to see if I could find a box of Magic Eraser. I had no clue it was a little sponge looking thing that you just wet and wipe with. Seriously it was amazing. It takes crayon right off the walls.
I washed walls for over 30 minutes but only managed to get the 3 doors and cupboards in the hallway done and the closet doors and one wall in the office. I'm going to have to put the kids to work on the rest of the house.
Magic Eraser won't work on highlighter. It did lighten it but didn't take it completely off. So Wash It Wednesday is half way through. Now to pull out the carpet cleaner. And Britten I'm with you, I so want hardwood or tile or anything that would keep clean with 5 kids and a zillion neighbors in and out of the house all day.Wash It Wednesday

There are a lot of things that need washing in my house. The problem is picking which one needs my attention the most. I've decided to spend 30 minutes washing walls of finger prints, smudges and artistic drawings and 30 minutes cleaning some of the lovely stains on my dirty, old, desperately needs replacing carpet. Mother, Tackle, Wash, Thwart, Fix, Scour & Savor IT!
So I love Tackle it Tuesday. It so works for me. There are so many things I just don't get done and having just one project to take on has really worked for me. Unbelievable my office is still clean! It feels so great.
My good friend Yoga drove down to visit me on Saturday. After and early lunch at Durangos a couple hours of shopping and then a late lunch at Outback I left feeling rejuvenated. I love you Yoga and am so grateful you went out of your way to spend and afternoon with me!
One thing we discussed briefly was Tackle It Tuesday. Yoga had been trying to come up with something for the other days of the week. She'd come up with Wash It Wednesday and Fix it Friday. It got my brain going and I wanted to come up with something for each day of the week because I thrive with motivation and love the sense of having something that I can accomplish and be proud of.
After church today with the help of a dictionary I enlisted Brian and the kids to help me come up with something for everyday of the week.
So we already had:
Tackle it Tuesday - Tackle any project that you need to get done.
Wash it Wednesday - Dishes, Laundry, your car, the spots on your walls...Lots of possibilities for something that desperately needs washing.
Fix it Friday - Fix something that needs fixing, mend clothes, repair something, replace something that is broken, etc.
The remaining ideas come from my husband and children. We brainstormed and voted on them and this is what we came up with.
Mother It Monday - We had lots of ideas from Mend it to Make it to Move it to Muster it... but it was unanimous that Monday should be Mother It Monday - Do something to be a better mother, read a book, take a walk with the kids, a bike ride, go to the park, sit and talk... Anything to better my relationship with my children.
Thursday was nearly impossible to figure out! Throttle it, thrash it, throw it, thrice it, through it... Ultimately we decided upon Thwart it Thursday. The definition of thwart included: to oppose and defeat, to hinder or prevent. We decided on picking some area of the house needed to be defeated. Clutter or chaos or even bad habits in any form that need to be thwarted.
Scour it Saturday - Anything that needs scouring or to be clear or rid of what is undesirable. Some sort of deep cleaning task from the oven to the soap scum to anything that is needing a good cleaning and scrubbing.
Savor It Sunday - Obviously not a day of work but rather a day to reflect on all that is good in life. A time to appreciate and relish and enjoy what we have been blessed with. (Brett says we should call it Sit it Sunday so we can just "sit" and rest all day).
I don't promise to tackle all of these each week but my goal is to accomplish at least several of them each week. I know there will be days when simply meeting the basic needs of my family is all I will be able to accomplish. But I hope to be able to get a better handle on thing by simply setting a small goal each day and accomplishing it.
