Forever Strong

Forever Strong is a great movie! It's on sale at Deseret Book for less than $20 and it is totally worth buying. Great message and great entertainment. Too bad every high school coach isn't more like Coach Gelwix.
What a great man!
"It's not about rugby, it's about young men. It's not about building a championship team. It's about building championship boys, boys who will be forever strong."

There is even a great site called Missionary Strong.

I loved the Gelwixims that were featured in the special features of the DVD.

GELWIXISMS
Gelwixism Gel-wix-ism (Noun): an inspirational phrase from the mouth of Highland Rugby Coach Larry Gelwix

“Good decisions don’t make life easy,
but they do make it easier.”

“The true test of a man is what he will
do when no one will know.”

“The essence of a lie is not the words you choose,
but the message you convey.”

“If you lose your integrity, you’ve lost everything.”

My advice: Go buy this movie!!!

Fiesta Fun & Slushies

Brett told me this afternoon that we had to do something fun today. He suggested another splash pad but it actually turned cooler and quite windy out so an outdoor activity didn't seem appealing to me. We opted to head over to Fiesta Fun to play on their soft play area and the kids had the option of spending $1 on arcade games. The older 2 wanted to keep the dollar instead of spending it and the younger 3 played a few games and traded their tickets for prizes.

We then headed to the Snow Shack for Slushies and to Papa Murphy's to get pizza for dinner. The pizza is about to come out of the oven and then we are going to watch the movie Forever Strong. At Women's Conference the coach of the Highland High Rugby team did a little interview and they showed a clip from the movie and it looked good so I bought it at Deseret Book today.

Slip N Slide

I had a tour of the Humanitarian Center to go to this afternoon and Bryce was headed on a Boy Scout Campout so we opted for fun at home this morning. We opened up the Slip N Slide we bought and boy did our kids plus a bunch of neighbors have a great time!

Fresh Garden Peas!

Well it's not much but at least it is something. We planted a garden for the first time this year. Our pea plants developed a disease and didn't produce much but most of what we did get was yummy. We've got carrots, spinach, tomatoes, green onion, squash and an unknown plant still growing. So hopefully we'll have some more fresh produce this year.

Library and Town Square

This afternoon we headed off to the library. We took Kim's friend Shailee with us.
The kids colored and then picked out books and movies.
We then headed out to the Town Square river & splash pad.

The last time we came here Bryce slipped and ended up with a concussion. He was not interested in doing that again. Most of the time he read a book.

I found Bradley with a slew of boys creating a human damn to block the water.

Heading back to the splash pad for one final time before heading home. We'll try to make this a trip we take every couple of weeks since we'll be needing new reading material often through the summer.

Picnic at Green Springs Park

We never got out and did anything today so I opted to pack up dinner in the ice chest and head out to a park for a picnic. We headed out to Green Springs Park in Washington. For most of the time we were the only ones at the park. There was a splash pad at this park but it wasn't quite a good as the one we went to yesterday.
The kids liked this toy that spins around.
There was a nice walking path with a cool bridge.

It had been windy and there was a lot of broken sagebrush around that caused prickers for bare feet.
There was enough wind some of the time for Brian to get out his kite and fly it.

Brett was a natural at flying the trick kite.
We came home for ice cream and finished reading The Best Halloween Ever and sent the kids down to an early bedtime. They don't have to go to sleep they just have to read, listen to books on tapes or play quietly until they are tired. After all it's only 9:00, it's summer and it's not even dark out yet! However by this time of night I'm tired and ready for some peace and quiet.
