Tackle It Tuesday

I'm going to tackle my office today. It's been a while since I've done Tackle It Tuesday and it's time. My office has been much worse on other occasions but I have a couple baskets of odds-n-ends and paper work that have been sitting in the corner for months. Once I get the kids off to their summer camps I'm going to get started on that pile.

Tackle It Tuesday

Day's almost over and I can't report that I've accomplished much around the house. In fact I've done NOTHING! (edit: done nothing on my house - as my friends pointed out I did accomplish things today)
We slept later than we should have. I did make breakfast but half the kids were still asleep. Then I got ready and went to a Temple session at noon. A few errands afterwards and suddenly it is nearly 4:00 and I'm worn out.
I have a Primary Presidency meeting tonight so it's not looking like one of the most productive days ever.
Well at least I made it to the temple, the bank & JC Penneys.
Maybe tomorrow will be productive again.

Tackle It Tuesday

Daylight Savings Stinks!
I want my hour back.

Morning came so early and meant taking Brett to seminary in the dark again. Once he and Bryce were off I came home and went back to bed for an hour. Gone were my good intentions of getting a great start to my day by working out during that hour.

It's now 11 and at least I got my workout done. That's at least 1 thing tackled. I'm now headed to the shower and then off to a PTA meeting and to run a few errands. Today is going to fly by and I'm not going to get much else tackled. My laundry pile is still a mile high and the rest of the house is going downhill. Activity days after school means I won't even be home to get the kids to do their chores and homework.

Tackle It Tuesday

Finally! A procrastinated job was tackled today!

I got my inspection done on my Suburban and my renewal processed. My tabs expired at the end of 2009. Since we're going to CA next week I figured we'd better at least have a registered vehicle to travel in.

Tackle It Tuesday

Today has turned in to my errand and shopping day. Over Christmas break I didn't get out to do much shopping.

Library - to return 4 overdue books - but first I have to find one of them
Staples - to get their freebies
Rite Aid - to get their freebies or rather a raincheck because I know they will be out of the items I want
Walgreens - probably both Walgreens in town and they'll still be out of what I want
Albertsons - 6 trips through the checkout to use all my double coupons
Target - just because I love Target
Walmart - to use a stack of coupons that are expiring

Wish me luck, patience and speedy checkout lines.

Tackle It Tuesday... Yes I'm a day late.

The way our schedule is this year I'm often not home much on Tuesdays. Wednesday seems to be the day I am home all day with time to clean. So I guess this is really a Work It Wednesday but I like the name Tackle It Tuesday better. Mentally I just like the idea of "tackling" a project.

It past time to organize a couple cupboards. The chaos just keeps multiplying. The first picture is my hall cupboard and the second one is my bathroom cupboard. The lovely mess on the table is a combination of office clutter mixed in with a bunch of freebies I need to find a home for. The goal is to bring some sort of order to this chaos.

Tackle It Tuesday

Today I'm trying to tackle a few things off my endless To Do List:
Payroll
Pay Bills
Mail Rebates
Library renewals
Organize coupons
Plan something for activity days (it is this afternoon)

Then I need to get my house clean so I can have activity days here today. I'm being over run by clutter & laundry. I've spent way too much time couponing lately and not enough time cleaning, exercising and reading. Why is it so hard to juggle and balance everything?

Tackle It Tuesday Completed

At least it now looks better. Too bad all those boxes are full of unsorted, unorganized, unlabeled pictures. It's not going to be fun to go through all of this and sort, scan, simplify, throw out & organize it all. I did find some fun things as I was sorting through things, old newspaper articles, stuff from high school, old pictures and things I had forgotten about.

Tackle It Tuesday

I have to laugh at a comment someone made to me the other day. A friend told me that someone who reads my blog said I must have a really clean house because according to my blog I am always cleaning. Boy do I wish that was the case. In reality I'm always cleaning because my house is always messy. It never seems to stay clean for long. Sunday night it was totally clean when my brother & sister in law arrived but then I got nothing done yesterday. My workout was interrupted by a call from Bryce to pick him up from school. Then it was a trip to the doctor and another trip out to pick up a prescription. By the time all that was done I was wiped out and ready for a nap. We were all tired so the afternoon was spent by all of us doing nothing but watching PBS kids and laying arouond.

However since my house was all clean on Sunday night it shouldn't be too hard to get my house back in shape today.

I'm going to spend the morning cleaning up the messes of yesterday: mainly dishes, laundry and school clutter.

Then I'm going to tackle this mess:

I quit scrapbooking about 7 years ago. We went digital 4 years ago and have printed nothing since then. So this closet would be everything that has never been scrapbooked, copies of things that have been scrapbooked and generally just a big disorganized mess. We just got a scanner so Saturday night I began to pull stuff out of this closet and started scanning and organizing stuff. So for tackle it Tuesday I'm going to spend at least an hour this afternoon tackling the mess in this closet.

Tackle It Tuesday

Another day. Brett & Bryce are off to school and I need to wake Kim & Brad up in about 20 minutes.
I stayed home most of the day yesterday and got some deep cleaning done. Only had to go out to take Brett & Bryce to the dentist which was quite enjoyable until I found out how many cavities they had. (Bryce has 1 & Brett has 6). It was actually relaxing to sit around in the waiting room reading a book for over an hour.
Today is activity days at my house and we're making Ice Cream in a Bag so I've got to run out later and get ice and half & half to make it. I've also got an appointment to get Kylie's immunizaiton waiver so she can go to preschool.

I'm home until 12:30 with lots to accomplish. I'm trying to come up with a Tackle It project but mostly I need to just do the day in day out cleaning that always needs to be done: laundry, dishes, vacuuming, decluttering. Today I'm working on decluttering the living room & window seat. But first I've got to get the kids off to school and get my workout done. Hi ho hi ho!

Tackle It Tuesday

First thing on the list today is a good WORKOUT!
I have been such a slacker in the workout department the last few weeks. I was exercising an insanely crazy amount and just got burned out. I set a new goal of 30 minutes per day 6 days a week from here on out.

The rest of the day is a little cleaning and a lot of errands:
Jessie comes to play from 9:30 - 12:00
Clean - Kitchen is done but the rest of the house needs attention
Sign up for Swim lessons
Lunch with Brian
Scout Store
Library
Smiths
I really need to go to Costco too but it's too hot to leave the groceries from Smiths in the car so I will have to come home to unload and then will go back out if I have time before the kids get out of school.
Dentist appt. at 4:10

Time for this Momma Piggy to get away!

Figured to be fair I should share a much kinder email I received yesterday from my SIL -
Personally I'm glad for whatever time we get to spend at your house hanging out with you and your five little piggies! ;)
Maybe its because I read Amelia The Three Little Pigs tonight, but I find it incredibly ironic, in a beautiful way, that you live in a brick house. No amount of huffing and puffing or emailing can change the fact that in the end the big bad wolf ends up in a pot of boiling water and the little "pigs" live happily ever after!

Thanks Kristen!

So seriously I have wonderful family & friends! A couple of friends stopped by yesterday to ensure I was doing ok and I assure you I am. Of course no one likes to be criticized but I promise I wouldn't have posted that email if I was steaming mad and upset. I opted to laugh and laugh I have, especially at all the comments that post generated.

So moving onward to the next adventure...

I'm leaving my 5 little piggies (as I now affectionately call them) in the care of my husband and in laws as I head off to Women's Conference at BYU.

I think this will be my 5th Women's Conference and it is a weekend I look forward to each year. I'm lucky to have a husband who willingly takes off work and a mother in law who helps take care of the kids while I'm away. I know this is at least the 3rd year she has been here watching the kids for me while I am enjoying myself. Thanks Glenda!

Looking forward to great talks, lots of laughs, great entertainment and the chance to visit family and friends.

Today is Tackle it Tuesday and I have a lot of tackling to do before I head out of town in the morning. Groceries to buy, packing to do, sheets that need to be washed, and of course my pigsty that always needs my attention!

Weeds, weeds, weeds

Why is it that weeds can grow with no water and no attention but if I forget to water my garden for a couple days everything shrivels up and dies.
I've been pulling weeds in the front yard this morning. Just the weeds along the driveway. There is an entire back yard and side yards that still need attention not to mention the rest of the front yard. Weeds are out of control at my house!
The next task will be the weeds in the backyard. Specifically the ones growing under the trampoline!

I did buy weed & feed and total vegetation killer yesterday so hopefully we can get the weeds in our yard under control soon. I'm sure the neighbors will be grateful if we do!

Tackle It Tuesday

Lots of little things to tackle today.

The biggest thing on my list is 3 laundry baskets full of odds & ends. When the kids clean if they don't know where something goes or more likely don't want to put something away they put it in a basket. Over time that stuff piles up. So today's biggest task is to get those 3 baskets of stuff put where it goes.

So here is today's list:
  • 3 baskets of junk
  • Finish Artemis Fowl 5
  • Read my scriptures & an Ensign article
  • Dishes
  • Laundry
  • Exercise
  • Pay bills
  • Start assembling taxes stuff

Tackle It Tuesday

Not much is going to get tackled around the house today. I can't seem to drag myself out of bed in the dark. So again I turned the alarm off and went back to sleep. So I'm off to another slow start. At least I had a great nights sleep!
I've got to go finish my workout and then head out to pick up a few things I need for activity days today. Since activity days is at my house I'll zip through the upstairs to get it cleaned again but other than that the only thing I am tackling is getting FHE packets ready for Activity Days girls to prepare this afternoon.

Tackle It Tuesday

I'm grateful to have plenty of food to eat. I'm not so grateful our food storage room looks like this!
Today's goal is to get the food storage room organized again! The kids haul the food I buy downstairs but they just put it in the food storage room on the floor and I eventually put it away on the shelves. Since I can't even get in the food storage room it's past time to put it on the shelves!

I won't make that mistake again

I did it! I finally sewed on all 15 of Brett's merit badges. Then I tried the sash on only to realize I'd sewed them on the wrong way! The sash goes on the right shoulder, not the left so if Brett wore his sash the right way his merit badges would be on his back. So I got out my seam ripper, removed them all and sewed them on again!

And this is not Brett's sash. The merit badges I sewed on are not sewn on very neatly or straight but at least they are finally sewn on!

Tackle It Tuesday

Today's Tackle It Project is to sew on all the scout patches and merit badges. I'm such a slacker when it comes to scouting uniforms. I'm going to get them done!

Off to a Great Start - Tackle It Tuesday

I actually rolled myself out of bed at 5:35 this morning to workout. Kids are off to school and I'm ready to tackle my day! I've decide to tackle the downstairs hallway today. Home to lots of junk. Bradley's clothes drawers are out of control and the other side of the hallway is fully of empty drawers and lots of junk. If I get ambitious I'll also go through Kim's drawers. She has too many clothes to fit in her 4 drawer dresser and I need to figure out a better solution so she can keep her clothes organized and off the floor!

This afternoon I have an activity day's field trip to the police station.

ETA: Boy does the hallway look better now! I took some of the empty plastic drawers and moved them into Kim's closet and put some of her clothes in them. Now there is finally a place for all her clothes. And look at all the empty shelf space I have. I have been dejunking so much I have lots of empty space now!
